The federal government has no business telling the state of North Carolina what type of nondiscrimination ordinances it should hold. There are no federal laws that state transgender individuals must be permitted to use the restroom and shower facilities that correlates to their gender identity.
What President Obama and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch want is to push a political agenda by using judicial activism. In order to drum up support for their cause, they have smeared the good name of this state and Gov. Pat McCrory. They have lied about the governor’s stance on LGBT issues, and they are working hard to create a narrative of hate that simply does not exist.
These moves are part of a politically motivated attempt to smear the names of Republicans by calling them bigots for passing legislation President Obama would have supported only a few years ago. It was not that long ago that the president, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats were opposed to same-sex marriage; they would have never advocated legislation such as the Charlotte ordinance.
Do not allow the Democratic Party to distract from the issues of this campaign through name-calling and baseless accusations.
