We can argue whether House Bill 2 is a good or bad thing, but we can’t argue that the legislature and Gov. Pat McCrory are right to stand behind HB2 while our state has become a national joke. The state economy is eroding, losing hundreds of millions of dollars; wages and benefits are falling; 1,300 jobs have been lost in Mecklenburg County; and new development is down 58 percent.
Our state will likely lose the 2017 NBA All-Star Game, and the federal government may cut billions of dollars in subsidies to North Carolina.
I doubt if there is a business leader who would sacrifice his company over a decision that could be reversed. While McCrory fiddles, North Carolina burns.
