Callous construction

I live on Wade Avenue where construction has begun. I agree it is in desperate need of repair; however, this is a residential area with homes and children who go to school and parents who work.

Hours of operation are 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. I was told this was due to traffic conditions. Bull! Atlantic Avenue was under construction during the day and just as busy or more. Or how about Hillsborough Street? It was politicians at the top who did not want to be inconvenienced by traveling an alternate route and who never considered the children or parents who are awakened at 1 a.m., 2 a.m., 3 a.m. on weekdays who still need to function in the day ahead.

I would like to know how the decision-makers would appreciate the lack of judgment and arrogance of a decision to tear up the road in front of their homes in the middle of the night and listening to the loud rumbling of machinery, their homes rattling so much that flower pots are vibrated onto the floor and the windows chattering so loudly they sound as if they will break.

This is another arrogant act of bureaucracy. This is a residential neighborhood, not an interstate!
