Many elected officials have been paying lip service to helping small businesses and working families who are hurting during this economic crisis. But on Nov. 7 our Triangle congressional delegation did something about it by voting for meaningful health care reform.
U.S. Reps. Bob Etheridge, Brad Miller and David Price voted for a bill which ensures that small businesses and working families will have access to health insurance that doesn't deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions.
Small businesses will also be able to lower their health care costs by shopping around for affordable plans through a national health insurance exchange that offers a public option.
More importantly working families won't have to wait long for relief. The bill would immediately stop insurers from cancelling a patient's policy just because they file a claim for benefits.
Thanks to our congressional delegation, working families are closer to having real health care reform they can depend on.
