The Nov. 22 front-page article on deportation made mention of illegal immigrants being processed for deportation after being arrested for "minor" violations. What you failed to mention was the "major" violation of being in our country illegally. The people are not being deported for the "minor" violations; they are being deported because they have called attention to themselves by engaging in some "minor" illegal activity, thus requiring law enforcement to react according to the law in addressing the fact that they are in this country illegally.
The law enforcement officials are merely doing their jobs. If they arrest a legal citizen who is breaking the law, the penalty is applied. The same goes for everyone else. It is a good example of the law being applied justly.
It is interesting timing for this article in a global sense; currently there are three U.S. citizens being held in Iran for accidentally crossing their border. We cannot have a secure country until we secure our borders.
