Every day we hear the rhetoric about how to solve the current gas problem of rising prices, and our dependence on oil. Should we temporarily halt the federal gas tax? We must find an alternative to foreign oil! Trouble is, we have heard it before in the 1970s, and now, 30 years later, we're just as dependent as we were back then.
It's funny how the government can demand that TV stations go digital (why I'll never know), yet it can't make the auto industry produce cars that get at least 50 mpg or, better yet, produce only hybrid cars by 2010. This would save millions in oil and clean up the air.
They should also roll back the speed limit to 55, though people will still go 80. This would save oil and give people a chance to see the trees as they drive on the highways.
Oh, I forgot. All the trees are gone due to the overbuilding of subdivisions.
