Seeing the July 17 wire service article concerning grave robbers was, for me, quite ironic. It was just the day before when I stopped by the cemetery to place new flowers at my parents' marker. As I got out of my car and glanced up the slope, I immediately noticed there were no flowers, no vase, at my parents' graves. With a quick perusal of the surrounding slope, it was obvious many vases were missing. Having read about the recent thefts of copper wire, etc., I knew in my heart what must have happened. A quick check with the cemetery's office confirmed my suspicion.
New vases are on order to replace those stolen; however, as I drove out of the cemetery, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of person(s) would stoop so low as to violate final resting places of beloved family members.
