Rep. Carolyn Justice, with Jim Young of Capitol Ministries of North Carolina, waves to people entering the chapel while Martha Parrish, right, plays a hymn.

Rep. Carolyn Justice, a Wilmington native and Hampstead Republican, volunteered to preach this week at a weekly worship service in the small chapel between the House and Senate chambers. She says the chapel, which displays Christian symbols and books, is the place 'for anyone who needs to find solitude or a time to be alone and pray.' According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, North Carolina is one of five states that has a chapel in its legislative building.
