A Stem woman has won a $1 million prize in the state lottery, lottery officials announced Wednesday.

Sherese Daley first won $15 on a ticket, then elected to buy another at the Quality Food Mart in Holly Springs. The second "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" ticket produced North Carolina's fifth million-dollar winner.

Daley, a restaurant manager, has received her first annuity payment of $50,000 after taxes; she'll get paid every February for the next 19 years, lottery officials said. Stem is a town in southern Granville County.
