Town officials say they've been told a passenger railroad stop in Orange County could be a paying proposition.The town said last week in a news release that Amtrak officials think a passenger stop would generate about $56,000 annual profit.The amount is "enough to recommend moving forward," Mayor Tom Stevens said.Residents asked the town to request the study. Hillsborough's next step is to develop a plan for incorporating rail service with other transportation.Building a covered platform would cost about $1 million, and a station building would cost $5 million to $6 million, the town said.
