RALEIGH - The Raleigh alumni chapter of Pepperdine University will serve the Raleigh Rescue Mission from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday as part of the California school's 20th annual Step Forward Day, a designated day of collective volunteer service by nearly 1,700 students, faculty, staff members, alumni and friends.

Members of the Raleigh alumni chapter will help sort donated clothes, paint and clean the mission, and perform other chores, according to a news release from the Malibu, Calif., school. Step Forward Day was started by two Pepperdine students in 1988 and now includes 60 community organizations across the country.
