RALEIGH - The N.C Academy of Trial Lawyers will provide free legal assistance to those who attend La Fiesta del Pueblo this weekend in Raleigh.

Bilingual lawyers from the academy's Hispanic-Latino division and civil rights section will be at La Fiesta del Pueblo as part of the event's "Fiesta de Justicia," which will be held in the Exposition Building at the State Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Lawyers from the academy, which in October will formally change its name to North Carolina Advocates for Justice, will provide assistance on issues such as immigration, criminal matters, family law and employment rights issues.

Also, the academy and the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina will provide "Know Your Rights" presentations at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday; and at 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday. In addition, information will be available on immigration, customs and enforcement; the deportation process; and other issues important to the Latino community.

La Fiesta del Pueblo is an annual event organized by El Pueblo, a North Carolina nonprofit advocacy and public policy organization. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.

For more information about the fiesta, visit www.elpueblo.org or call 835-1525.
