UNC-CH students learn philanthropy

CHAPEL HILL - Students at UNC-Chapel Hill will soon learn about philanthropy by giving away money from their own charity fund.

A program called Students4Giving was announced Wednesday by Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund and Campus Compact, an organization that promotes community service at colleges and universities across the country. The program will provide five campuses in the United States each with a $15,000 fund to make grants in the community. UNC-CH is one of the schools in the program.

The students will gain real-world experience by choosing local nonprofits to support and recommending investment strategies to enrich the account.
