The Rev. WonGong So, left, leads a deliverance ceremony for Eve Carson at the Won-Buddhism Meditation Temple in Chapel Hill. Carson, the student body president at UNC-Chapel Hill, was shot to death March 5. 'Eve left this world without unfolding her visions and dreams fully,' WonGong So said. 'Her death shocked the entire community, a community that we thought was safe. This has shaken our trust in one another, and has brought great sorrow. So, with a sincere, praying heart, we offer this deliverance ceremony for Eve today.' Won-Buddhists believe that, while the physical body perishes, the human spirit has eternal life. WonGong So, leading four others in song and prayer, asked that Carson's spirit might awaken and find peace.
