Representing the rich

I almost spilled my oatmeal when I read that the General Assembly was convening a special session to override the governor's veto of a law that makes it illegal to haul a boat that is too wide for the road.

If lawmakers were returning to deal with the fact that they are not taking care of teachers or the mentally ill or addressing the burden of the middle class during these tough economic times, I would feel proud.

This special session was not about the interest of the average citizen. It was about a small number of affluent people who want to haul their large expensive toys to and from the water while they violate the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.

While the Democrats come together in Denver to denounce the interests of corporate greed and big oil, our legislature came together (again) to advocate for the interest of the rich.

Just who do our representatives represent?
