A July 14 writer complained about the new Monday cuts on the Opinion pages and suggested reducing the comics pages instead, saying "your readership deserves more than bread and circuses." Of course, if you used the original definition of circus -- "a large arena used for spectacles such as athletic contests" -- you'd leave the comics alone and cut the Sports pages.
