So, you are sitting at home watching the Olympics and decide to go to the local track and get back in shape. You remember that N.C. State University has a track, a new track.

You go there and find out that it is closed to the public. Not wanting to get arrested, you call the number listed and find out that, yes, it is closed and not even open to local running groups.

You decide to go to the local entrance to Umstead State Park (you drive there because it is too far to run or walk). You get there and realize there is no parking at your local entrance. The best choice is to go back home and play video games with your kid.

It is a shame that with the growing obesity problem that local facilities and parks are limiting access. Maybe they should be inspired to open up to the public more.
