Regarding your May 7 articles "Lake level won't stay up" and "Water rates in Raleigh may rise":
I don't get it! We save water, and our leaders are going to raise water rates?
In industry we would reduce expenses such as office supplies and equipment, travel, training, vehicle use, parties and celebrations, etc. If that was not enough to cover the income shortfall, we would freeze promotions and salary increases. As a last resort we would reduce staffing. It is ludicrous to think that variable expenses can't be reduced to make up a shortfall in income.
Why shouldn't the citizens just use more water and save our money when elected leaders postulate such theories?
