All of my adult life has been devoted to the demolition, construction and recycling industries. My livelihood has taken me to almost every major city east of the Mississippi. I have branch offices in many of these cities, including Raleigh. My companies have imploded and demolished high-rises and have built new buildings in Raleigh. I take great pride in the capital city of my home state.
An issue being discussed from the Governor's Mansion to the legislature and into Raleigh City Hall is, "What do we do with Dix Hospital?" Development will occur and continue to occur, but this may be Raleigh's only opportunity to ever have a destination park by the people and for the people. A park such as Dix will promote the image and kind of growth Raleigh can be proud of.
Now is the time to step up for future generations and place government buildings downtown, not in Dix State Park.
