RALEIGH - The N.C. Bankers Association is donating $100,000 to organizations that support military personnel in the state.

The money was raised by banks and other businesses as part of the "Salute to our Troops" event held in April in downtown Raleigh.

The association donated $25,000 to the N.C. Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund at the state National Guard headquarters in Raleigh on Thursday.

It is making equal donations to similar organizations at Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

"Salute to our Troops" included a parade up Fayetteville and Salisbury streets that featured military equipment and vehicles and hundreds of marchers from every branch of the armed services and from bases across the state. It began with a quartet of F-15E Strike Eagle jets from Seymour Johnson flying over the 1.5-mile parade route.
