WILMINGTON -
Authorities say a man accused of shooting a pregnant woman more than a month ago has been charged with two counts of murder after her babies died.Duplin County Assistant District Attorney Bob Roupe told the Star-News of Wilmington that prosecutors decided to file the first-degree murder charges against Gregory Chapman, 22, this week after talking to doctors about whether the babies were born alive.Police say Chapman shot Lisa Wallace, 28, in Warsaw on May 26. Wallace was 19 weeks pregnant and went into labor. The two infants died soon after they were delivered.Rick Miller, Chapman's attorney, says he hasn't reviewed the case, but he thinks that whether the children were born alive will be a factor in Chapman's defense.
