Redefining marriage

I read with some amusement the comment by state Rep. Ruth Samuelson, a Charlotte Republican, in your July 3 article "Tougher ban on same-sex union sought."

She said that homosexuals are not being denied those benefits -- they just have to marry someone of the opposite sex. "If they want to get married, then they find a man or a woman and they get married and they have all those rights," she said.

Wow! Is Samuelson advising gay men to go back into the closet and marry unsuspecting straight women? Does she believe that marrying someone you don't love and have no sexual interest in will preserve the sanctity of marriage? Apparently, this is a new definition of gay marriage.
