In her Aug. 20 column "The chilling effect of an inside job," Mary Newsom ignored that it's possible the majority prefer the cooler comfort and might overheat without it. Her proposed 75-degree setting in our downtown Raleigh office, for example, where many windows have direct Southern exposure, would be unbearable for many of our employees.

My response: Give me liberty and the opportunity to use energy that best suits individuals' needs to work and live as they see fit -- where comfort levels are optimized and things like work efficiency can be maximized.
