Keeping it cool

Many thanks to Mary Newsom for pointing out in her Aug. 20 column "The chilling effect of an inside job" our extravagant waste of energy in cooling, and heating, our indoor environments.

There are often times when I browse in a store that I am so chilled I can only rush out. In the summer, it is necessary to carry a sweater or jacket to tolerate the grocery store, a restaurant, movie theater and most business establishments.

The opposite is the case in the winter. Within minutes of entering one of these places, I have to begin to disrobe.

Not only would we save energy, but we would all be more comfortable and healthier if there were a moderate temperature observed in all seasons.
