Why is gas so high?

I am shocked that our gas prices are not coming down.

On the Internet, I looked up average gas costs in the country at www.fuelgaugereport.com/. Now I am upset.

On Sept. 29, North Carolina had the fourth-highest average cost of gas in the country. Our state's was $3.89. Only Alaska, Hawaii and Georgia are higher.

There is no excuse except greed. In Virginia the cost of gas is 25 cents less per gallon, and in South Carolina the cost is 11 cents less.

Why? It's simply supply and demand. If people will pay for it, they will charge it. We have been experiencing some gas shortages, so gas stations can get away with it. I won't drive any miles that I don't absolutely need to until the gas price is fair.

North Carolina ranks 37th in state median income for 2007. That means the average income in our state is less than the average income in 36 other states. Our population can't afford price gouging. If local businesses pay more for fuel, the price of their products rise also.

Something needs to be done before businesses and individuals go bankrupt.
