Easy issue?

Your Oct. 8 article on the second presidential debate did not mention Sen. John McCain's response to the question of how he would save Social Security. Instead of giving details, he said only that it was easy and that he knew how what to do.

Passing off this impending fiscal and social disaster as an easy fix is not only flippant but demonstrates the senator's lack of understanding of economic issues and the flimsiness of his proposals.

While he deserves all our respect for his contributions to this country, it is not enough for him to ask us to trust his judgment. We need a president that understands the issues and offers thoughtful, concrete solutions, not another eight years of opaque, shortsighted, and disastrous policies.
