No confusion here

How dare N.C. GOP Chair Linda Daves ("GOP ad defended," letter, May 1) insult the intelligence of North Carolina Democrats by suggesting that we are incapable of deciding whom we prefer for governor without help from a GOP-produced commercial in which Democratic gubernatorial candidates are criticized for failing to denounce someone who has no connection to North Carolina and whose words have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the gubernatorial race in North Carolina.

North Carolina Democrats aren't as easily confused as Daves and her fellow Republicans. North Carolina Democrats are well aware that Jeremiah Wright isn't a candidate for N.C. governor, and what he has or hasn't said is irrelevant to our choice.

North Carolina Democrats aren't fooled by Republicans' "flat rejection" of the accusations that the N.C. GOP has been at it again, using exactly the same kind of race-baiting tactics the party has employed for decades. The N.C. GOP has made a living out of exploiting racism, and its "Extreme" commercial proves that it hasn't given up that line of work.
