RICHARD POWERS BULLS: Chris Richard belted a ninth-inning homer to give visiting Durham a victory over Charlotte on Friday night.

Richard's homer, his team-leading 16th of the season, was a line drive on a 3-0 pitch from Scott Sauerbeck, who fell to 1-3 on the season.

Dale Thayer (2-0) had just worked out of a man-on-third, none-out jam in the eighth to keep the score tied at 1. Durham tied the score in the eighth on a two-out error by Danny Richar.

The Bulls (49-40) have won three of four in the series.
