RALEIGH -
A News & Observer reporter was charged with drunken driving early Saturday morning.David Bracken, who covers Raleigh city government for the paper, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.17 after he was stopped by Raleigh police on Harrington Street near Martin Street at 2:18 a.m., according to court documents. A level of 0.08 is considered impaired.Bracken, 33, of Montgomery Street "failed to maintain his lane, struck a car in the opposite lane, left the scene, had a flushed face, smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests," court documents said.Bracken, whose license was confiscated, was released from the Wake County jail after signing a written promise to appear in court.
