DURHAM - A 74-year-old Durham man was killed Friday night after a three-vehicle collision.

Willie Joe Smith of Tulip Poplar Circle was the front passenger of a vehicle traveling northbound on Red Mill Road near Old Oxford Road when it crossed the yellow line and slammed head-on into another vehicle, the state Highway Patrol said. A third vehicle hit the second vehicle moments after the original wreck, which occurred just before 10 p.m.

Smith was wearing a seat belt.
