RALEIGH -
Progress Energy is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that helps authorities find Cynthia Moreland, an employee who has not been seen since Tuesday morning when she drove her car into a city parking garage across from her downtown office.Police have been searching for Moreland, who lives in Wendell, since she was reported missing Tuesday evening. Early Friday, they arrested Antonio Davon Chance, 29, of Garner and charged him with kidnapping Moreland and using her debit card to buy toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant.Raleigh police on Saturday released a photo of Moreland's 1998 Toyota Camry, in hopes people will recognize the car and help determine where it went Tuesday. Police say the car left the downtown parking garage shortly after 6:40 a.m. and was abandoned on Malta Avenue off Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Southeast Raleigh in early afternoon. In between, police say, the car was with Chance when he used Moreland's debit card at a Dollar General store off U.S. 401 about 10 a.m. Police think Chance acted alone in kidnapping Moreland.Progress Energy officials describe Moreland, 48, as a "valued and dedicated" employee who has been with the company since 1980. She is a technical design specialist in the distribution department.Raleigh police ask anyone with information about the case to call detectives at 890-3555.
