Six from S.C. charged in shooting

RALEIGH - Six men were arrested Wednesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that left a woman seriously injured early Wednesday.

Raleigh police officials said Carinthia Wright was shot several times about 3 a.m. Wednesday on East Martin Street.

Raleigh police officials arrested Dimarcus Bell, 18; Christopher Mickens, 20; Frederick Nelson, 18; Christopher Reese, 18; Xavier Sapp, 19; and Brandon Stukes, 20, all of Sumter, S.C.

According to arrest warrants, each is charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious bodily injury. In addition, Bell, Nelson and Reese were charged with one count each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious bodily injury, discharging a firearm in city limits and going armed to the terror of the people.

It was unknown Wednesday night who shot Wright, or whether she knew the men.

All six were being held Wednesday night at the Wake County Public Safety Center in lieu of bails ranging from $100,000 to $315,000.
