ATTEND SOCIAL TO HELP ANIMAL RESCUE GROUP: A spring social for C.A.R.E. for Animals, a Raleigh nonprofit animal rescue group, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Bent Tree Clubhouse, 8600 Carriage Tour Lane in Raleigh. The social will include hors d'oeuvres and drinks and a silent auction that will feature an autographed Carolina Hurricanes hockey stick. The cost is $10 for advance tickets and $15 at the door. RIDE TO RAISE MONEY FOR RED CROSS: A raffle and motorcycle ride are planned June 14 to raise money for the Johnston County Red Cross chapter. The ride, called "Ride for the Red," will begin at 8 a.m. at Team Powersports Suzuki of Smithfield on Ventura Drive and end at Hinnant's Family Vineyards in Pine Level. The raffle will be for a 2008 Suzuki S40 Cruiser or 2008 GS500 street bike. For more information, call 934-8481.
