Regarding your May 14 article "Colleges shut out illegal aliens":

Attorney General Roy Cooper deserves the thanks of all law-abiding citizens for his office's decision that illegal aliens shouldn't be admitted to the North Carolina community college system. It is a slap in the face to North Carolinians that some, Gov. Mike Easley most prominently, expect us to subsidize the educations of people who aren't even supposed to be in the country.

Roy Cooper should be proud that, unlike Easley or Jim Hunt, he and his office actually decided to take appropriate action on a problem that has been tormenting our state since the mid-1990s. I hope we can expect more common-sense rulings such as this one from Cooper's office.
