CLAYTON - A Clayton man who had been missing since June 16 has been found unharmed.

Authorities on Sunday canceled a Silver Alert for John Wrenn Cook, 27. Family members had reported him missing, saying he was mentally ill and needed medical attention. He was found late Sunday at a Comfort Inn in Raleigh, said Tammy Amaon, spokeswoman for the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

In an e-mail message, family members said Cook was taken to a Raleigh hospital for observation, then released and reunited with his mother. They said Cook has a treatable mental condition best described as temporary amnesia and went missing after leaving the family home on a brief errand.
