FAYETTEVILLE - DuPont's Fayetteville facility is in the running for expansion as the chemical giant looks to increase production of materials used in solar photovoltaic panels, site manager Karen Wrigley said Tuesday.

The Fayetteville Works Plant has nearly 500 employees and about 300 full-time contractors. About 20 people are dedicated to the production of polymers used in the manufacture of solar materials.

The one-year-old Fayetteville solar operation would add 15 to 20 workers if DuPont selects Fayetteville as a site to double the company's production of Tedlar, a film used to back solar panels, Wrigley said.

DuPont announced Tuesday that it is reviewing sites in the U.S. and abroad. The company will pick a site this year and increase Tedlar production next year.
