The Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina awarded $50,000 to Family Violence Prevention Center (doing business as Interact). The funds will go toward furnishing the family dining room and teen room and buying a van.

Chester White Jr., a retired Prudential Financial employee in Raleigh, received a 2008 Prudential CARES Volunteer Grants Award for $250 to benefit the N.C. Train Host Association. White served the association for 11 years and provided 80 volunteer hours in 2007.

Wachovia's Raleigh board of directors received $10,000 from the Wachovia Foundation to give to nonprofits of their choice. They gave $2,500 to Interfaith Food Shuttle, $2,500 to Hospice of Wake County, $2,500 to Meals on Wheels and $2,500 to Loaves & Fishes.
