A Dunn man died Tuesday after losing control of his motorcycle near Benson.

Michael Odell, 29, was traveling west on Tar Heel Road at a high rate of speed, according to state Highway Patrol Trooper R.K. Maynard.

As Odell rounded a curve, he crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road. He overturned several times and landed in a culvert, Maynard said.

Odell was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
