Camp Reflections

Taught by Nivien Ibrahim and others

THEY'RE STUDYING: Camp Reflections is a summer program for children and adults who have lost a loved one. In June, children and their parents participated in arts and other activities as a way to learn about the grieving process at Lake Lynn in Raleigh. Trained counselors try to make the day fun for the children.

"It's not really a day to sit and talk about grief and to mourn all day long. I think that's what people are afraid of," said Nivien Ibrahim, the reflections team leader and grief counselor. "Arts are a way for people to tap into their grief on a different angle."

The program is run through Hospice of Wake County, and participants are asked for a $25 donation.

Similar programs will be available for children and adults starting in October. For information contact Hospice of Wake County at http://www.hospiceofwake.org/ or 828-0890.
