STUDENT: Ellen Price, fourth grade
SCHOOL: Polenta Elementary School, Johnston County
ACHIEVEMENT: An underwater scene Ellen painted was featured in a calendar of student artwork after she took honorable mention in the national Global Environmental Strategies Art Contest. Ellen received 10 copies of the calendar to give to family members and friends. Art teacher Courtney Murphy submitted the piece, " 'Clowning' Around in Coral Reef."
'The painting had clownfish and reefs everywhere. Our teacher told us to pick a fish and draw the same fish over and over. Everybody loves clownfish.'
