The culture of any organization is set by those at the top. President Truman bought his own postage stamps, Sam Walton stayed two to a room at Days Inn while building the world's largest retailer.

The N&O has provided a glimpse into the management style and culture of the Easley administration. There will be no challenge to Harry Truman's rectitude or Sam Walton's tightfistedness from the Easleys.

It sure would be interesting to see what would happen if our state officials led by example. Maybe that state trooper should run for governor.
