Del Mar, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Leading 3-year-old California Chrome received a special visitor this week at his stable at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Trainer Art Sherman visited the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Friday and liked what he saw of the colt.
"The Big Horse looks great," Sherman said Saturday morning at Del Mar. "He's put on weight, his foot (injured when fourth in the Belmont Stakes) is all healed. We jogged him today and now we just hope everything goes well and we get him ready for the Breeders' Cup."
Owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, the chestnut colt spent time after the Belmont Stakes at Harris Farm in Coalinga and moved to Los Alamitos on Thursday.
The colt, who was undefeated in five starts this year before the "Test of the Champion" on June 7, is likely to make one start, probably late in September, before the Breeders' Cup.
