Hall announces ticket prices, calls them competitive

Hall of Fame tickets on sale for $45

Tickets are on sale for the 2007 Raleigh Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The event is planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, Meymandi Concert Hall.

A reception follows the induction at 7:30 p.m.

Let's face it. Navigating the N.C. State Fair can be fun, but also trying, with kids.

So here are some tips to get you through or just maximize the fun, courtesy of fair spokeswoman Natalie Alford. The fair started Thursday and runs through Oct. 25.

1. Children ages 2 and under can ride free on a select number of kiddie rides as long as they are accompanied by someone 16 years or older who has a wristband or tickets for rides. The adult must also accept guardian responsibility and use a little common sense in choosing the rides.

Fair tickets on sale at discount

Advance tickets for the N.C. State Fair are available at outlets in Raleigh and Durham, in addition to the fair's Web site.

Fairgoers can save $2 off an adult admission ticket and $8 off a sheet of ride tickets by buying before the fair starts. Advance tickets will be available online and at walk-up locations through Oct. 16, the fair's opening day. The fair runs through Oct. 26.

Advance tickets are $5 for adults and $1 for children ages 6 through 12, while a sheet of 18 ride tickets is $10 in advance.

Lowe's plans NASCAR hall sponsorship

Lowe's is in talks to sponsor parts of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is set to open in downtown Charlotte in May.

The Mooresville-based home improvement retailer is aiming to sponsor the Hall's kids' zone, transporter simulator and pit road portions, spokeswoman Julie Yenichek said.

The deal, including financial terms and details on how the Lowe's elements will look, is not yet finalized, however, she said.
