Notes

Ron Hornaday Jr dominated the race, but it was Johnny Benson who tookthe checkered flag in last year's Kroger 200. Hornaday, who started on thepole, led the opening 154 laps, but ran out of gas and failed to finish therace. Benson, however, seized the opportunity and led the remainder of therace for his 14th career Camping World Series title. Hornaday's tank went drywith just four laps remaining, as he finished 29th.With only five races remaining, Hornaday owns a 197-point advantage over MattCrafton and a 255-point lead over Mike Skinner. In 20 starts this season,Hornaday has six wins and 16 top-10 finishes. Crafton has matched Hornadaywith 16 top-10s, but he has failed to capture a single race in 2009. This isthe sixth and final short-track race of the season.Benson will not be on hand to defend his title, as he continues to recuperateafter his June crash in an ISMA Supermodified race at Berlin Raceway. In 2007, Mike Skinner led the final 66 laps, as he edged pole-sitter JackSprague by 0.749 of a second for his 24th career title. Terry Cook, who ledfor a race-high 108 laps, faded and placed 29th. Skinner, has added one win tohis total this year, has recorded 16 top-10 finishes in 20 races in 2008.Pole sitter Jack Sprague edged David Starr by less than a second in 2006 forhis 27th career Truck Series title and his first at Martinsville Speedway.Sprague led for the first 33 laps and final 62, as he won by 0.416 of asecond. Ted Musgrave, who led from lap 34 through 138, placed 15th.Ricky Craven crossed the finish line in 2005, eight lengths ahead of ToddKluever for his first career Truck Series title. With the win, Craven becamethe 15th driver to win in all three NASCAR national series' (Sprint Cup,Nationwide, Camping World).Martinsville Speedway's first series race in 1995 was run at a 150-lapdistance and held on a Monday after the Saturday-scheduled event was postponedby inclement weather. The race became a 250-lapper the following year and wasshifted to the spring in 1999. A second date, this week's Kroger 200, wasadded in 2003. Martinsville Speedway is one of four tracks to host a race ineach of the series' 14 seasons. Its also one of three to appear twice on the2008 schedule. The .526-mile layout is one of five tracks of less than a milein length currently scheduled. The Camping World Truck Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway on October31 for the Mountain Dew 250.
