Kenseth takes Texas Nationwide pole

Matt Kenseth will start on the pole for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge after turning in the quickest lap in qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kenseth lapped the 1.5-mile oval at 187.201 m.p.h. (28.846 seconds) for his second pole of the season and the 16th of his Nationwide career. His first pole here came in 2001.

"[The car] always has a lot of speed, so hopefully it will handle like we need it to for 300 miles tomorrow," Kenseth said.

Childress on Harvick: Que sera sera

Richard Childress doesn't appear to be too concerned about Kevin Harvick's possible departure at the end of the 2010 season.

Childress said Saturday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway that he's focused on helping his struggling team move on following a disastrous 2009, not Harvick's status.

Harvick hinted during a television interview recently that he has no plans to remain at Richard Childress Racing when his contract expires next year.

Teams take one-two crunches in practices

Near the end of Thursday’s first Budweiser Shootout practice session, Denny Hamlin hit Mark Martin's car from behind. And, as it usually goes at Daytona International speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, many others were caught up in the incident.

Seven cars became involved and several others were sent scattering into the infield grass. Five teams immediately brought out backup cars: those of Hamlin, Martin, Jamie McMurray, Greg Biffle and Kevin Harvick.
