FORT WORTH, Texas After a hard wreck during Cup practice on Friday, Richard Childress Racing has pulled Jeff Burton from Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
The team pulled out a backup car and Burton qualified he will start 42nd Sunday but was still sore late Friday afternoon.
"My head hurts. Just kind of a crappy way to start off. We were really fast in race trim; I was really happy with the car," Burton said.
"It wasn't an error or anything like that. What we think happened was something with the power steering. I just couldn't turn it."
RCR is putting Casey Mears in the No. 29 Chevrolet for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge.
"Honestly, Richard (Childress) came to see me right after the wreck and he made the call," Burton said. "I'm good with that. That is just how Richard is, he wants to make sure I'm OK."
