Busch wraps up title

Kyle Busch made it a double dose of celebration, winning the Nationwide Series championship before completing a lap and capping his night at Homestead-Miami Speedway with his ninth trip to Victory Lane.

Busch held off a hard-charging Carl Edwards to win the Ford 300, a fitting ending because the two NASCAR stars finished 1-2 in the standings.

Busch only needed to start the race Saturday to win his first NASCAR title.

Timothy Peters wins truck race at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Timothy Peters took the lead when Denny Hamlin pitted on the 117th lap Saturday and won the NASCAR truck series race at Martinsville Speedway.

It is the first career victory for Peters, who lives in nearby Danville.

Peters stopped just once in the 200-lap race, after just 33 laps, and led the final 84 laps, holding off Todd Bodine over three restarts to cruise to the win by 1.815 seconds.

Harvick hints at change

FONTANA, Calif. In an interview with ESPN’s Marty Smith that will air during Sunday’s “NASCAR Countdown” prerace show on ABC, driver Kevin Harvick hints his career at Richard Childress Racing could be over when his current contract expires in 2010.

During the six-minute interview conducted at Harvick’s home in Kernersville, N.C., the driver discusses his frustrating 2009 Cup season, along with the persistent rumors that he had sought an early release from his contract.

Harvick acknowledged that he and team owner Richard Childress have had such a conversation, but Harvick said they agreed “it would not be in the best interest for all involved.”

Harvick picks up second straight Budweiser Shootout win

Kevin Harvick overcame flu-like conditions earlier in the week to win the Budweiser Shootout for the second year in a row Saturday at Daytona International Speedway.

Harvick captured the victory after the pre-season, non-points race concluded in a wild overtime finish.

Michael Waltrip's crash late in the race set up a green-white-checkered finish. During the caution, Greg Biffle and Kasey Kahne were the only drivers in the field that opted not to pit.

Busch trucks to win

Kyle Busch held off Ron Hornaday and Kevin Harvick to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Busch had just enough fuel to survive, running out of gas as he made his way to Victory Lane. The NASCAR star has now won a Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck race at the 1.058-mile oval.

The real intrigue came behind Busch, where Hornaday spent the last 50 laps battling with Harvick, his boss.
