Royals agree to minor league deal with Betemit

The Kansas City Royals have agreed to a minor league deal with infielder Wilson Betemit.

Betemit split last season between the Chicago White Sox and their Triple A- affiliate in Charlotte. In 20 game with the big league club, the 28-year-old batted .200 with five doubles and three runs batted in. Then in 72 games for Charlotte, Betemit hit .241, recording 19 doubles, 11 home runs and 49 RBI.

In seven seasons with the Braves, Dodgers, Yankees and White Sox, Betemit has a batting average of .258 with 42 homers and 154 RBI, spanning 516 games.
