The Seattle Mariners on Friday signed shortstop Jack Wilson to a two-year contract. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Mariners acquired the 31-year-old, along with pitcher Ian Snell, from Pittsburgh on July 29.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity the Mariners have given me to continue my career in Seattle," said Wilson. "I am looking forward to competing for a world championship in 2010."

Wilson batted .224 with one home run and eight RBI in 31 games for Seattle following the trade. A bruised right heel ended his season on September 16. He also missed time in August with a sore left hamstring.

"When we acquired Jack Wilson we envisioned him being a key part of our ballclub over the next few years, today that has come to fruition," said Mariners executive vice president and general manager Jack Zduriencik. "We look forward to Jack's contributions and are excited that he will be a part of the ball club as we move forward."

For his career, Wilson is a .268 batter with 61 home runs and 397 RBI in 1,190 games with the Pirates and Mariners.
