The Golden State Warriors suspended Stephen Jackson for two exhibition games Saturday after the unhappy captain left the bench during an exhibition contest in Los Angeles.

The veteran swingman picked up five fouls and a technical in less than 10 minutes Friday night while playing against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Forum. After an apparently testy exchange with coach Don Nelson when Jackson's frustration was evident on the bench, Jackson went to the locker room and never returned.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Jackson was sent to the locker room or went on his own. The Warriors only said Jackson was suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team."

Jackson has made it known he wants to get away from the Warriors, unhappy with the franchise's decline after its 2007 playoff run -- and he's getting increasingly insistent about it. He was fined $25,000 by the NBA last month for publicly acknowledging he would welcome a trade and hasn't backed down from the stance in recent interviews.

Jackson will miss Saturday night's game against Phoenix in Indian Wells and Monday's game at Staples Center against the Clippers. Jackson didn't even make the trip to the high desert for the Warriors' outdoor game against the Suns.

McGowan wins at Madrid

Ross McGowan of England captured his first European Tour title, winning the Madrid Masters by three strokes over Mikko Ilonen of Finland.

McGowan shot a 1-under 71 in Sunday's final round to finish at 25-under 263 at the Centro Nacional golf course.

The Englishman shot a 60 on Saturday and began the final round with a seven-stroke lead, but struggled early with bogeys on the first and fourth holes.

Ilonen had a 66. David Drysdale of Scotland shot 67 and was another stroke back in third.

Chattanooga Classic: Canadian Chris Baryla won the event for his first Nationwide Tour victory, beating Troy Kelly by a stroke to move into position to earn a 2010 PGA Tour card as a top-25 finisher on the money list at Chattanooga, Tenn.

Martin outlasts Agassi

Todd Martin beat Andre Agassi 6-3, 7-5 on Sunday in the final of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Tennis Championships, the 39-year-old Agassi's first tournament on the 30-and-older Outback Champions Series at Surprise, Ariz.

"I really enjoyed being here this week, with a lot of peers and familiar faces and the crowds were great," Agassi said. "Three days in a row is a lot of tennis for me now. Hopefully, I can improve next time."

Playing his first tournament since the 2006 U.S. Open, Agassi beat Mikael Pernfors on Friday night and topped Wayne Ferreira in the semifinals Saturday.

China Open: Novak Djokovic won the event with a 6-2, 7-6 (4) victory over Croatia's Marin Cilic, and Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia defeated Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-2, 6-4 in the women's final on Sunday in Beijing.

Japan Open: Second-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the event late Saturday for his third ATP Tour title of the year, overpowering Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-3 at Tokyo.

Lopez, Gamboa defend belts

Juan Manuel Lopez and Yuriorkis Gamboa remained on a potential collision course after defending their titles in separate bouts at Madison Square Garden in New York late Saturday night.

Gamboa retained his WBA featherweight title with a brutally efficient fourth-round stoppage of Whyber Garcia, and Lopez earned a hard-fought unanimous decision against rugged Rogers Mtagwa to keep his WBO super bantamweight belt.

Mushka wins Spinster Stakes

Mushka won the $500,000 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland on Sunday after Proviso was disqualified for interfering with the winner late in the stretch at Lexington, Ky.

Entering the far turn, Mushka circled the field six wide to launch her bid as Proviso, under Rajiv Maragh, was already taking command. While there was no contact between the top two horses, the eventual winner did have her momentum taken away nearing the wire.

Oklahoma Derby: Fiddlers Afleet held off hard-charging Massone win the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby by a half-length on Sunday at Remington Park in Oklahoma City.

Under jockey Channing Hill, Fiddlers Afleet took the lead with about three-eighths of a mile left in the 1 1-8 mile race.
