Pierce, Garnett spark Celtics' win

BOSTON -- Paul Pierce scored 25 points and Kevin Garnett backed up claims that his knee is just fine, adding 12 points and six rebounds in the Boston Celtics' 100-93 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Sunday.

Garnett, who missed much of last season with a strained right knee, looked comfortable as he chased loose balls and drove to the basket early. He matched his preseason average of eight points with 3 minutes, 18 seconds to spare in the first quarter, and wound up playing 21 minutes.

Brook Lopez led the Nets with 21 points.

MAVERICKS 114, GRIZZLIES 107: Jason Terry scored 23, including a pair of 3-pointers on consecutive possessions down the stretch for host Dallas. Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 for the Mavericks (2-1).

SPURS 95, HEAT 93: Rookie DeJuan Blair scored 28 points on 11 of 13 shooting, and San Antonio won at Miami.

PISTONS 100, HAWKS 91: Ben Gordon scored 22 and Rodney Stuckey added 20 as host Detroit (3-0) remained undefeated. Former North Carolina player Marvin Williams led the Hawks with 19 points.

RAPTORS 100, WIZARDS 93: Rookie DeMar DeRozan scored nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter. Charlottean Antawn Jamison had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Wizards.

Late Saturday

WARRIORS 104, SUNS 101: Charlottean Anthony Morrow scored 30 points off the bench and Golden State defeated Phoenix in an outdoor exhibition at the Indian Wells (Calif.) Tennis Garden.

Former Davidson star Stephen Curry, the Warriors' first-round pick, scored 18 points, including two free throws in the closing seconds.
